Helgen has followed a varied path during his artistic career. After graduating from the School of Fine Arts in France, he worked as a photographer for the Collectif Presse agency in Paris. Having travelled to Indonesia in 1995 during one of his assignments, Helgen became enamoured with the natural wild forests, beautiful fields and harmonious infusion of elements.
Sharing his time between Paris, Los Angeles and Indonesia, Helgen was inspired to combine nature elements, recycled wood from old ships, rusted metal, stainless steel and river hardwood to create this spectacular and unique work of art.
Both functional and beautiful, each piece is a one-off and can not be emulated. words from: http://www.oandw.com.au
